Challenge
Due to one of the two media filters being under maintenance, the treatment plant could not treat the required quantity of treatment water for the town’s supply. Also, the treatment plant could not maintain the water level in the town’s reservoir, and gradually, the level was reducing, risking the water supply in the network
Solution
Sapsorb Water Services had a technical support contract with our client and was engaged to provide the best solution for this challenge. After a careful study of the treatment plant, including the treatment capacity and demand, a temporary UF system was suggested to the client. Once the procurement process was completed, Sapsorb was engaged in installing and commissioning the UF system. Sapsorb completed the project after fine-tuning the operation. The water balance between conventional and advanced treatment was carefully calculated.
Results
Both systems operated in parallel without any issues. The town reservoir level started gaining within 12 hours and the levels were reached at high level in 48 hours. This solution eliminated the risk of the town losing water and avoided expensive water carting.
